EXCLUSIVE: Could Britney Spears Face Jail Time? What Friends Hope For the Star & How She’s Doing

Sources close to Britney Spears are expressing hope that a judge will give the pop star a choice between rehabilitation and jail time following her recent DUI arrest in Ventura, California. Friends believe this could provide her with a crucial opportunity for treatment and reflection.

Spears, 44, was arrested on the evening of March 4 and released early the next morning, March 5, after being detained until 6 a.m. TMZ was the first to report the arrest. The arrest was classified as a "cite and release," meaning she was not placed on probation. While details surrounding the incident remain sparse, sources indicate that Spears has been struggling in recent months, as seen in her Instagram posts. Her instagram account has since been taken down.

“She’s been in a tough place lately,” a source shared with Celebrity Intelligence. “This situation could serve as a reality check for her. She recognizes that her behavior hasn’t been great, and she wants to comply with the law.” Friends tell Celebrity Intelligence that she mentioned having only consumed a mimosa prior to being detained by police, although her blood alcohol content has not been disclosed.
